This morning I held the door open for a woman, as of course I always do, and because she was about a half-step away from the entryway, she said “sorry” as she walked through. I thought to myself, “Sorry for what?”
My parents were big on manners and Southern hospitality, so I have been well-schooled in the art of social etiquette and the integral value of an apology. But dare I say society has gotten just a little too apologetic for our own good?
